V/A - Too Loud 4 You

Four bands with three songs each: Halfway Home, Forty Winks, Vanilla Sky, & AndTheWinnerIs. Halfway Home kick it off with some awesome melodic punk similar to the usual stuff these days, but I like them better than most. The dude's voice sound like Chris from Saves The Day, and these guys rock it pretty good. I'm excited to review their full length (in a few minutes actually!) Forty Winks are pretty good as well. I like split CDs that have a variety of bands, otherwise they all kind of blend together. This band isn't bad, however they have a very similar sound to Halfway Home and probably don't get the credit they deserve because of that. Not bad though...and they play an awesome cover of "Surrender" ROCK! I will excuse Vanilla Sky for having a crappy band name because I'm pretty sure they're from another country. Maybe something was lost in the translation? It's easier to forgive them for the crappy band name because they rock as well. Another good melodic punk band. Their second song starts off with a hypnotically beautiful lick and then picks up the tempo for the rest of the song. These guys are very talented and feature a cover of the Vanessa Carlson song, "A Thousand Miles." It's really well done and would have been one of the best songs on Fearless' Punk Goes Pop CD. It's also pretty funny because of the singer's accent. Check it out! AndTheWinnerIs is probably the worst band on here, but even so aren't terrible. Surprise...another melodic skate punk band. These guys are cool just because their names are: Beppo, Jan, Olly, Maik, and Moppi. They're like the freakin' Marx Brothers! This CD is a good smathering of what Italy's Wynona Records has to offer. Check it out if you like melodic punk bands because there's four good ones on here!
